Sometimes, the past won't let go.
Let's change that.
You're here because something's not right.
Maybe you can't stop thinking about what happened. Maybe anxiety has you checking, worrying, second-guessing everything. Or perhaps you've withdrawn so far into yourself that the person you used to be feels like a distant memory.
I'm Colin Platt, and I've been helping people get unstuck as a NHS clinician for almost a decade, with specialist training in trauma, OCD, and anxiety disorders. I am also BABCP Accredited (#00001000736).
Using EMDR and CBT, two of the most effective talking therapies available, I work with people across London and the South-East who are ready to stop being defined by their trauma, anxiety, OCD, or depression.
The good news? You don't have to figure this out alone.
Right now, you might be:
Living with trauma you can't process. The flashbacks. The nightmares. That feeling of being back there even though you're here.
Your brain knows it's in the past, but your body hasn't got the memo. Trapped in anxiety's endless loop.
The "what ifs" won't stop. You check things over and over. You avoid situations that shouldn't be difficult. You're exhausted from trying to stay one step ahead of disaster.
Withdrawing from everything.
You know you should get out, see people, do things. But it feels impossible. The longer you wait, the harder it gets. And that critical voice in your head won't shut up about it.
Sound familiar?
You're in the right place.
My approach is evidence based, goal focussed, practical & honest

EMDR for PTSD
I’ve been having therapy with Colin, and my experience has been nothing but positive. I have been struggling with complex PTSD my entire adult life, and I’ve been having a hard time knowing myself besides trauma responses. Colin has been able to foster an environment that’s safe, caring and free from judgement. I was able to see tangible results within a few sessions, and I haven’t had a panic attack in 5 months - something I don’t have memory of in my adult life. All of this progress happened while I’ve had to deal with the loss of two loved ones, and grief has been part of my trauma. This is a testament to how effective the treatment has been. Each session has been adjusted and catered to my specific case and to my specific needs, making sure I could get the most out of this service. I can confidently say that Colin changed my life and besides having an innate gift he met my case with professionalism, competence and empathy.

Next steps
I know reaching out can feel like a big step. So we've made it straightforward for you.
Step 1: Free Assessment Call (20-30 minutes)
A genuine conversation—no catch, no sales pitch. We'll talk about what's going on, what you're hoping to change, and whether I'm the right therapist for you.
If I'm not the right fit, I'll tell you honestly and point you toward someone who might help.
Step 2: First Session (50 minutes)
We'll create a timeline, identify what's stuck, and set a clear goal. I'll explain how EMDR or CBT works—no jargon. By the end, you'll know exactly what we're doing and why.
Step 3: The Work (Sessions 2-4)
-
For trauma (EMDR): We help stuck memories move where they belong. It's quicker than you think.
-
For anxiety, OCD, or depression (CBT): Practical techniques and small experiments that shift how you feel.
-
After four sessions, we review. Seeing progress? We continue. Not getting somewhere? We adjust.
Step 4: Keep Going Until You're Done
We continue until you achieve what you came for. The goal is you living in line with your values, not what trauma, anxiety, or depression dictates.
When we hit that goal, we're done.
Where We'll Meet
I find EMDR works best face-to-face—my treatment rooms are in Central London with excellent transport links. Online CBT sessions available if needed.

FAQ's - Questions people often ask
"How long does therapy take?"
Everyone's different, but we work in 4-session blocks. After the first four, we review and decide whether to continue. Some people need 4-8 sessions. Others need more. We don't drag things out—we work until you hit your goal, then we're done.
"Will I have to talk about everything that happened?"
With EMDR, you don't need to go into every detail. We need to know what happened and when, but you don't have to relive every moment in the telling. The processing itself happens differently—it's more about letting your brain do what it needs to do.
"What if I cry or get upset in sessions?"
That's normal, and it's fine. This is hard stuff. I've got tissues, and we go at your pace. That said, EMDR isn't about making you feel worse. It's about helping you feel different (and better) about what happened.
"Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?"
I have some flexibility with appointment times. We can discuss what works for you during the assessment call.
"Can I bring someone with me?"
For the assessment call, yes, if that helps. For the actual therapy sessions, we'd need to discuss that. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it gets in the way. We'll work out what's best for your situation.
"What if I need to cancel or reschedule?"
Life happens. I ask for 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule. If you cancel with less notice than that, you'll be charged for the session (unless it's an emergency, we can talk about that).
"Do you work with the NHS?"
I have nine years of NHS experience, but my private practice is separate. If you're looking for NHS therapy, I can point you toward the right channels, but waiting times are often long. Private therapy means you can start much sooner.
"Is everything confidential?"
Yes, with the usual limits: if you tell me you're at risk of seriously harming yourself or someone else, or if there's a child protection concern, I have a duty to take action. Otherwise, what we talk about stays between us.
"Do you offer weekend or evening appointments?"
Currently, I offer appointments during standard working hours, Monday to Friday. This allows me to maintain the focused, consistent energy needed to provide quality EMDR and CBT therapy. Many clients find that prioritising therapy during work hours can be an important part of their commitment to the process.
